On 7 May, Vryheid High School hosted a successful blood donation drive, with learners and staff once again proving their commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
The results speak for themselves:
- 129 donors participated in the drive
- 95 units of blood were successfully collected
- These donations have the potential to save up to 285 lives

PSG League Kicks Off With a Bang
VHS Hosts Empangeni High School — 9 May
Vryheid High School welcomed Empangeni High School for the first PSG league fixture of the season on 9 May. It was an action-packed day of sport, featuring competitive fixtures across rugby, netball, hockey, and chess.

The rugby teams put in several dominant performances, securing strong victories across most age groups.
- U/14: VHS 50 – 5 Empangeni ✅

The netball girls showed tremendous determination and resilience throughout the day, with several tightly contested matches keeping things exciting until the final whistle.

The hockey teams displayed excellent teamwork and sportsmanship throughout, with notable victories from the U/16 and 1st Girls teams.

VHS Choir Shines at ATKV Applous Streekfees
Silver Award for Vryheid High School Choir — 6 May
On 6 May, the Vryheid High School choir travelled to Ferrum High School to compete in the prestigious ATKV Applous Streekfees — and they did not disappoint.
The choir delivered an outstanding performance on stage, proudly bringing home a Silver Award. Their dedication, natural talent, and countless hours of practice were on full display, making the entire VHS community extremely proud.
