Firstly, we would like to congratulate Luthando Sithole who attended the Eskom Science Expo for Young Scientists. His project had to stand up to projects from learners much older and with more experience than him. Luthando’s project was based on energy efficiency and conservation. He constructed a more efficient version of a geyser. It runs on renewable, solar energy and is mostly made up of recyclable material to reduce the amount of waste in our environment. We think this is pretty impressive for a grade 8 learner and we hope to hear and see more of his innovative ideas in the future, perhaps even some in our own houses, one day.
Chloé Henstock, one of our grade 9 learners, gave up some time in the June holidays to attend a hockey umpiring course in Durban, with the South African Hockey Association. She is now a certified Level 0 umpire with the South African Hockey Association. We hope to see her talent not only on the hockey field, but perhaps next to it as well in the next season.
It is with great excitement and pleasure that we will present a Talent Show Extravaganza on Thursday, 17 August. Our learners will perform on stage to showcase their various talents, from dancing, singing, reciting and much more to the public. Tickets will be sold at R50,00 per person and includes light refreshments and can be purchased on the night. Please come and enjoy the evening in support of our learners and their talents.
Amongst the hussle and bussle of the week was also our weekly sport fixtures. Here are the results:
