What a busy holiday our students and staff had here at VHS. We hosted a successful, thirtieth rugby week and our first team girls hockey went to camp Discovery. We hit the road running for the second term and we have already had our first parents evening and sporting weekend against Newcastle High School
Mooi so seuns.
Ons wil graag elke borg bedank sonder julle kan ons nie ‘n rugbyweek van so ‘n format aanbied nie. Baie dankie!
Our 1st team hockey girls went to Camp Discovery in the recent holiday where coaching, playing and team building took place. The girls experienced a great improvement as a team. They played six games of which they won 5 and drew 1. Congratulations girls! The girls had the following to say, “We learned what it actually means to be part of a team – what it means to be part of a family and put aside our differences to be part of something bigger than ourselves.”
We would also like to congratulate Saskia Hibbert on making it onto the Northern Kwazulu-Natal women’s B-team.

It is with great sadness that we say farewell to Mrs. Deanne Struwig, who has been part of the Vryheid High School family for 30 years. On Friday, 21 April, the staff had a party so say farewell to the “purple teacher”. The purple party, in her honour was a wonderful occasion to send off this great matriarch of our school. Mrs. Struwig has devoted her life to education and has influenced generations of students in either her English class or through her stage productions. We wish her well in all her endeavours, wherever the road may lead her we know she will leave a lasting impression on many more generations to come.
The Interact team here at VHS also held a garage sale on Saturday, 22 April, for Mrs. Struwig. All the proceeds will go to Interact, which will then distribute the funds to the SPCA and other smaller Interact projects.
We would also like to inform parents that admission forms for next year, 2018, are available from the front office. The closing date for forms submission is 2 June 2017. We look forward to receiving your forms.
