VHS Learners and Staff Shine in Science

Vryheid High School is proud to share the remarkable achievements of our students and staff who continue to bring honour to our institution. Each milestone reflects not just individual dedication, but also the collective spirit of excellence that defines our school community.

Our talented matric science pupils, Tobias Niebuhr and Karl Hellberg, have once again demonstrated the highest standards of academic achievement. Both have maintained an impressive average of over 90% throughout the year, making them outstanding role models for their peers. Recently, Tobias and Karl took part in the prestigious SAASTA Science Olympiad.

This annual competition is a highlight on the academic calendar, drawing entries from across the country and challenging learners to push their scientific knowledge and critical thinking skills to the limit.

Out of thousands of hopeful participants nationwide, only around 100 learners were selected to advance to the second round of this rigorous olympiad. The fact that both Tobias and Karl were invited to continue in this esteemed competition is a testament to their hard work, intellect, and passion for science. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to them and look forward with keen anticipation to the release of the final results. The entire Vryheid High School family stands behind you, and we are confident that your efforts will continue to make us proud.

Excellence at Vryheid High School extends well beyond the classroom. In the field of sport, we are delighted to celebrate Benedict Momina, a Grade 11 learner whose talent and dedication have earned him a place in the rugby spotlight. Benedict has been selected to play for the Coke-Cola u/18 Academy Week, representing the Sharks Country District team at Kearsney College. This is a remarkable achievement for a young player, as the Academy Week showcases the very best rugby talent from across South Africa. Benedict’s commitment to both his academic responsibilities and sporting passions exemplifies the well-rounded character we encourage in all our learners. VHS is immensely proud of you, Benedict, and we look forward to seeing your sporting journey flourish even further.

We would also like to extend warm congratulations to members of our staff who are celebrating wonderful milestones in their personal lives. Mrs B J/v Rensburg recently became a grandmother, welcoming a new member to her family. In addition, Mr R Scholtz experienced the joy of fatherhood for the first time. We send our best wishes to both families during this special time. May these new beginnings bring abundant happiness and many cherished moments in the years ahead.

Looking ahead, excitement is building for one of the most significant events on the school calendar—the annual Matric Farewell. This year, the celebration will take place on Friday, 29 July 2016. The evening promises to be a memorable occasion, where our matriculants will be able to celebrate their journey and achievements surrounded by friends and family. We encourage all attendees to fully appreciate the splendour of the evening, whilst also remembering the importance of respectful conduct and moderation. To everyone involved in the meticulous preparations behind the scenes, your efforts do not go unnoticed, and we wish you strength and success as you put the finishing touches on what is sure to be an unforgettable event. May all our matriculants enjoy every moment of this special night!

Once again, we salute the accomplishments of our learners and staff—whether in academics, sport, or personal milestones. Each success story adds another chapter to the proud legacy of Vryheid High School.
