VHS BEGINS WITH A BIG BANG!

VHS BEGINS WITH A BIG BANG!

On Tuesday, 10 January 2017, Grade 8 and new learners’ parents had the opportunity to meet the educators and see the school where their children will be educated for the next few years.  A very pleasant bring-and-braai was held at the Schooneesfield where new relationships were established.

Welcome to all Grade 8 and new learners of VHS.  We trust your schooling career here will be enriching and pleasant.

Two of our promising young hockey umpires, Karl Kohlmeyer and Mohammed Dhooma umpired at the Pro Series Indoor Nationals in Cape Town.  They gained valuable experience umpiring 36 games each over 8 days.  They also watched 4 matches between the South African team and the International ‘All Stars’, as well as meeting these players afterwards.  We are very proud of them.

Four of our athletes participated at an ASA event during the holidays. Welgedaan meisies!

CELEBRATING THE YOUTH!

CELEBRATING THE YOUTH!

On Thursday, 16 June 2016, we, together with the rest of South Africa, celebrate Youth Day.  This day celebrates the fact that the youth can now receive education in their choice of the medium of instruction.  This is a privilege one must appreciate and use to one’s own advantage.

Last week TWK come to visit the Grade 12 learners and did a presentation on possible bursaries they can offer the learners.  The learners realised that there are opportunities for further education if one is willing to work conscientiously and be dedicated to achieving one’s best academic results possible.  The June examinations are now half way, but learners are encouraged to continue preparing well for each examination.

A word of wisdom:  What lies behind us sand what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.  (Walt Emerson)
