SECOND TERM IN RETROSPECT!
In April VHS hosted the annual Nashua Rugby Week and the VHS team definitely showed improvement as they won more games than the previous year.
P Keeve was selected for the Natal Country District team and VHS beat Ferrum 28-16.
Melanie Niebuhr u/15 and Kwandile Buthelezi u/17 achieved Natal Colours for netball and are participating in the South African Championships during the holiday.
The highlight of the boys’ hockey was that they won the Eshowe tournament in March. The girls’ hockey produced 2 Natal players: A Mkwanazi and H Meyer. The highlight was that they beat the Dundee team (2 – 1) who had been unbeaten until VHS played against them.
The chess team participated in a tournament at Pionier in June and did very well. They also beat the formidable Sarel Cillers and St Dominics teams. N Mathebula was the best player of the season.
The revue in April showcased the incredible talents of the learners and emphasised the idea of ‘I am because We are!’ while celebrating the fact that VHS is a ‘rainbow’ school.
During the blood donation clinic 78 units were donated – Saving many lives! Congratulations to Mr J Fourie who not only organises these clinics, but also donated his 102nd unit this term.
Three successful restaurant evenings were hosted this term. Our sincere thanks to the parents of these learners who support these functions with great enthusiasm. We appreciate your support.
Grade 8A/E’s collected R800 which they donated to the SPCA for very necessary food for the animals. Well done to these learners for doing this for the community.
We are looking forward to the sport that will be played next term: girls’ and boys’ cricket, tennis and boys’ and girls’ soccer.
